How To Make Cabinet Base

Gather your materials.

You will need the following materials to build a cabinet base:

3/4-inch plywood or MDF
1x4 pine boards
1x2 pine boards
Wood screws

Toe-kick molding
Finish nails

Cut the plywood to size.

The first step is to cut the plywood to size for the cabinet base. The base will be made up of two pieces of plywood, one for the top and one for the bottom. The top piece of plywood should be the same width as the cabinet, and the bottom piece of plywood should be 1/2 inch wider than the cabinet on each side. The length of both pieces of plywood should be 24 inches.

Assemble the cabinet base.

Once the plywood is cut to size, you can assemble the cabinet base. Start by attaching the bottom piece of plywood to the 1x4 pine boards. The 1x4 pine boards should be spaced evenly apart, and they should be flush with the edges of the plywood. Use wood screws to attach the plywood to the 1x4 pine boards.

Attach the top piece of plywood.

Once the bottom piece of plywood is attached to the 1x4 pine boards, you can attach the top piece of plywood. The top piece of plywood should be flush with the edges of the 1x4 pine boards, and it should be secured with wood screws.

Install the toe-kick molding.

The toe-kick molding is a decorative piece that is installed along the bottom of the cabinet base. It helps to conceal the space between the cabinet base and the floor. To install the toe-kick molding, use finish nails to attach it to the bottom of the cabinet base.
