How to Create a Cabinet Door

Materials You'll Need

1/2-inch plywood
1/4-inch plywood
Wood glue
Clamps
Circular saw
Jigsaw
Drill
Screws
Cabinet door hinges

Instructions

1. Measure and cut the plywood. Start by measuring the opening of the cabinet. Then, cut two pieces of 1/2-inch plywood to the same size. These pieces will form the front and back of the door.

2. Cut the 1/4-inch plywood. Next, cut a piece of 1/4-inch plywood to the same size as the front and back of the door. This piece will be used as a filler to create a recessed panel in the center of the door.

3. Glue and clamp the plywood together. Apply a thin layer of wood glue to the edges of the 1/2-inch plywood pieces. Then, place the 1/4-inch plywood piece in the center of the door and clamp the pieces together. Allow the glue to dry for at least 30 minutes.

4. Drill holes for the hinges. Once the glue has dried, drill holes for the cabinet door hinges. The number and placement of the holes will vary depending on the size of the door and the type of hinges you are using.

5. Attach the hinges. Screw the hinges into the holes you drilled in the previous step. Make sure to tighten the screws securely.

6. Hang the door. Open the cabinet door and place the hinges over the mounting plates on the cabinet. Then, close the door and tighten the screws to secure it in place.
